A downed punt is one a member of the kicking team stops or touches to keep it from rolling into the end zone.

It is a coverage and control stat as much as a leg stat. In 2018, Tress Way (19) led NFL punters in punts downed, ahead of Ryan Allen (15) and Riley Dixon (14). 37 punters qualify.
