What Is a Good NFL Field Goal Percentage?
Answered with every NFL field goal in our data, 2016 to 2026.
In the 2025 NFL regular season, kickers made 85.6% of field goals. Among the 32 qualified kickers, the median made 84.9%, the top quarter made 88.9% or better and the top tenth 93.1% or better. So a good NFL field goal percentage is about 89% or higher; an elite one is 93% or higher.
Percentage alone can mislead: a kicker who tries many long kicks will have a lower percentage than one who mostly kicks from close range, even if he is the better kicker. That is why we rank kickers by MAKE (Makes Above Kicks Expected), which credits each make against how hard the kick was.
